Most people are preparing for a week of festivities surrounded by family and friends. While we eat, drink and make merry, the story can be very different for people living in one of our safe houses. It may not be safe for them to see family and friends. This week sees the launch of our annual Christmas Campaign. We are appealing for donations for the women and children who will be spending Christmas in one of our safe houses.
A Variety of Donations
We’re looking for donations suitable for women and for children aged 0-16:
We kindly ask that all donations are new and unopened. Please don’t wrap anything before you donate it to us!
Drop Off Points:
Donations can be dropped off at any of the following locations:
• Virgin Money Lounge, 10 Castle Street, Norwich
• Bistro Britannia, Guildhall, Gaol Hill, Norwich
• 79 Thorpe Road, Norwich, NR1 1UA (9.30-16.30)
Thank you to all our partners for supporting us on this campaign, having these central locations as collection points will significantly increase the amount of donations that we are able to receive.
Increase in Demand for our Safe Houses
The Eastern Daily Press recently reported on the shocking increase in cases of domestic abuse in Norfolk and Suffolk. It’s an issue we are all too familiar with. Last year, we provided shelter for 328 women and children across our five safe houses. A further 144 women and 98 children we were unfortunately unable to provide shelter for, due to being full – referring them instead to other service providers. However, we have just opened a new 4 bedroom safe house, which will increase our capacity to a total of 47 bed spaces across six safe houses in Norfolk.
