2022 was a busy year at Leeway and we are extremely grateful for all the support we received from the local community.
We often get people asking about the various ways in which they can support our work throughout the year, so we have highlighted just a couple of the ways in which you can support Leeway!
Leeway Fundraising & Events
Our fundraising events and campaigns have been well supported over the years and we hope that 2023 carries on that trend!
We were overwhelmed with the fantastic response that our Christmas Campaign received last month, particularly our Amazon Wishlist that we tried for the first time.
Following on from this success, we are looking into creating a year-round list that supporters can donate from, providing essential items for those that we support in refuge and the community.
We are currently in the process of setting this up, so be sure to keep an eye on social media for updates on our donations wishlist!
Our social media will also have updates about any upcoming Leeway fundraising events that we have planned and any other campaigns that you can get involved in.
Holding Your Own Event
There are many ways in which you can raise money for Leeway outside of the charity’s fundraising events. Over the years, we have seen people organise cake sales, quizzes, bingo nights, fun runs, as well as people taking part in marathons to fundraise for Leeway.
You may have set yourself a New Year’s Resolution to do more exercise, so you could raise money for Leeway whilst doing a sponsored walk!
Our fundraising pack on our Fundraising page has more information about how to set-up your own event/challenge, and some more inspiration about what you can do.
Raise Money as You Shop
We recently highlighted some of the ways you can raise money for Leeway whilst Christmas shopping – the good news is, these schemes are available all year round!
We are signed up to Amazon Smile – Amazon gives charities that are signed up a percentage of whatever you spend. You simply have to go through the Amazon Smile page, search for Leeway, and continue shopping as normally would do.
As well as this, we are also signed up to Easy Fundraising, which works similarly to Amazon Smile but includes a host of big-name retailers, such as Argos, eBay, M&S, Tesco, and even Booking.com.
Whether you’re checking out the post-Christmas sales, buying presents for someone’s birthday, or booking a summer holiday this is an easy way to raise money for Leeway at no extra cost to you!
If you, or your organisation, want to find out more about domestic abuse, how to spot the signs, and how to signpost someone to access support, why not sign up for one of Leeway’s training sessions.
Domestic abuse is everyone’s business and we believe that increasing public knowledge of domestic abuse can help those experiencing it to access support at an earlier stage.
We currently run regular Domestic Abuse Awareness sessions, as well as the application of DASH (Domestic Abuse Stalking and Harassment) training – dates for these can be found on our website.
We also offer bespoke training to meet the needs of your organisation, focusing around topics that are particularly relevant to your setting, and can also provide support with those looking to draft workplace policies around domestic abuse.
