New Year’s Resolution: Help Others

08 January 2019
New year's resolution help others

The start of the new year is traditionally the time for resolutions. People set themselves personal targets of eating less junk food, drinking less alcohol or taking more exercise. Helping others is another common resolution and supporting a charity is a great way to get started. Whether you fancy taking part in fundraising events or signing up for some voluntary work, Leeway have lots of exciting opportunities to get involved with over the coming months.

The support we received last year was fantastic and we hope that this continues into 2019!

Fundraising Events

We have a busy calendar of events throughout the year, with something for everyone to get involved in.

  • Lee’d the Way

Our fun run challenge on Sunday 20th January is a great opportunity to get some exercise whilst raising money for Leeway. Participants have the choice to enter a team and run the race as a relay or do it on their own and run as many laps as they please.

The event is being held at Catton Park and costs £5 solo or £20 for a team of up to six people.

  • Skydive

One New Year goal might be to conquer a fear or to take on an exciting challenge. Our Skydive event at Beccles Airfield returns on Sunday 17th March, giving people the chance to raise money for Leeway whilst jumping from 13,000ft! You will get some unparalleled views of the Norfolk and Suffolk countryside on your way down too.

Host Your Own Event

In 2018, quite a few supporters raised money for Leeway through their own events or challenges. Supporters have held cake bakes, ran marathons, fayres and have raised money in many more fun ways. Last year saw 9-year-old Noah raise money in his summer holiday by holding his very own running challenge

Volunteering

Another resolution could be to take part in some voluntary work to help a good cause or support others less fortunate. We have over 20 volunteers, helping across a range of roles in our office, in our refuges and in the local community.

To find out more about volunteering, email volunteer@leewaynwa.org.uk or, to apply for a particular position, you can download an application form on our volunteering and jobs page.
