Leeway Named Flagship Groups Charity of the Year

15 October 2015

In the past year we have been able to help around 8,000 adults and children in Norfolk to escape from the dangers of domestic abuse. This help can range from offering advice at one of our drop in centres, to providing a safe place for those affected by abuse to escape to at one of our refuges. However, without the support of the general public, trusts or local businesses and organisations we would not be able to continue providing these vital services.

Did you know that:

  • £1 allows us to buy a book for the children in our playgroup
  • £10 buys a week’s supply of breakfast essentials for a family staying in one of our refuges
  • £50 allows us to convert a standard mobile phone into a safety phone through the ‘Fones for Safety’ scheme.
  • £100 allows us to provide outreach support to 100 women
  • £1,000 enables us to run 30 drop in centres

Flagship Group’s Charity of the Year

We are therefore grateful for all the support you offer us. This week we would particularly like to thank everyone associated with The Flagship Group, who recently named Leeway as their ‘charity of the year’. The Flagship Group is a not-for-profile organisation which owns, manages and provides affordable accommodation for people in the east of England. Since their formation in 1991, they have grown to become one of the region’s leading housing associations – providing in excess of 22,000 homes and working with 22 local authorities. In the past they have supported charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK, helping to raise thousands of pounds which have been used for local projects and new equipment. We thank everyone at the Flagship Group for their support and look forward to working with them over the coming year!

How You Can Support Leeway

If you are interested in supporting our work, there are many ways in which you can help us, including:

  • Events: Throughout the year we host a number of exciting events, ranging from pub quizzes to ghostly walks and Christmas fayres. If you would like to come along, you can find details of all our events here.
  • Non-Financial Donations: We are always on the lookout for items that service users in our refuges may be in need of. These can range from soft furnishings to baby care items. Keep an eye on our Facebook page to see how you can help.
  • One Off and Regular Financial Donations: If you would like to make a donation, you can find all the details of how to do so by clicking here

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support!
