Radio Hearts Breakfast show co-host Chrissie Jackson joined Leeway as a patron this year - Chrissie said “I have a huge amount of respect for the people and the ideals of Leeway - the fact that the charity is growing shows their work is more important than ever.”

Leeway's Wine Tasting Evening

This enjoyable evening was held in November in the lovely surroundings of the George Hotel in Norwich. The event, hosted by Taste Bud Wines, allowed people to taste a variety of wines and champagne from the Languedoc regions of France and provided them with some interesting facts about them. The evening helped to raise £850 for Leeway's Outreach service, which was boosted by a prize draw, containing some lovely prizes, generously donated to us by local businesses.

Leeway's Firewalk

Image of the Dancers from Norwich Samba Band Leeway's Exciting Firewalk Event was hosted on the 3rd October 2008, at the Forum in Norwich. This sponsored event, gave members of the public, the unique opportunity to learn from experts, how to walk barefoot over burning hot coals. The aim of the event was to raise the profile of the charity to the public, whilst also raising significant funds, to help sustain Leeway’s services. To get involved, each person had to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100, for which they received professional training on the evening, in order to prepare them for the walk. After completing this, each participant was then able to brave the Firewalk outside of the Forum, where they walked over a fire lane of hot coals, burning at 800° degrees Fahrenheit.

The evening received a huge amount of support including the incredible performance from the Norwich Samba Band, who generously donated their musical talents to the evening. Another skilled act who also offered his time and expertise to the event, was fire performer 'Pyrokinetrix', who amazed the crowd with his excellent fire performing skills.

Thanks is given to everyone who supported the evening, including, the Firemen from Green Watch, at Norwich Fire Station, MB catering who supplied delicious food for the evening, along with the photography by Castle Event Photography, who generously donated half of their profit from the evening to Leeway. Leeway’s Patron, Radio Broadland’s Chrissie Jackson also attended the evening, providing her full support to our charity. Leeway would like to give a big thank you, to all their brave firewalkers, whom without, the event would not have been possible.
