Norwich Refuge Domestic Abuse Caseworker

Job Title: Refuge Domestic Abuse Caseworker

Based: Norwich Refuge

Hours: 37hrs per week

Salary: £25,803 (pro rata)

Benefits include: 6% pension contribution, training and continuous professional development, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a day off for your brirthday, staff reward ½ day off between Decemeber and January, 6 weeks paid sick leave (after completion of probation), paid 30 minute lunch, 24 hour telephone counselling service, clinical supervision, , staff prize draws, gift vouchers, salary advance and loan schemes.

A full driving license, car business insurance & access to a car to travel is required.

Job Purpose:

  • To provide an effective, supportive and confidential service for women and children requiring emergency temporary safe accommodation.
  • To provide crisis management, support and guidance to women who have experienced domestic abuse
  • To ensure that the safe accommodation operational policies procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • To ensure all statistical data is collated and maintained for stakeholders and funding bodies.
  • To support the Service Co-ordinator in developing the safe accommodation service to deliver the best possible outcomes for safe accommodation residents.
  • To participate in the out of hours on-call system for all Leeway safe accommodation
  • Hours of work are on a rota basis between 9.30am-6.30pm Monday - Friday & Saturday 9.30am-130pm

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification or two years’ experience of working with women and children who are experiencing domestic abuse, for a statutory or voluntary agency.
  • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
  • The Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to use Microsoft office, database systems case management and report writing.
  • To be flexible

Desirable Requirements: Experience in working in a residential setting.

Job purpose

The Triage IDVA will be part of our team within the Norfolk Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (NIDAS), a community-based service providing effective, safe, supportive, and confidential support for service users aged 16 plus and their families including children aged 5-18, who are assessed as high or medium risk, and living with or fleeing domestic abuse.

The purpose of the role is to work in a multi-agency environment providing an assessment of risk and offering a range of support to reduce the risk of further harm posed to service users and their families.

The support will be provided depending on the needs of the caller/referral through the phone, email, webchat or approved virtual apps as and when required. You will provide referrals to the NIDAS service identified by the referrals level of risk, including group support.

To triage all referrals and input all data onto an approved database in-line with reporting requirement and under the direction of the Senior IDVA.

Your support will ensure service users feel safe, happy with the service they are receiving and have the widest opportunities available to them to enhance their lives and improve their safety and wellbeing, using a strengths-based, trauma informed approach that is centred around their aims and aspirations.

You will participate in the rota system providing cover over 7 days a week represent the service by providing presentations and attending events as required and support the NIDAS Partnership Board in working towards the best possible outcomes for our service users.

This role is subject to DBS and enhanced Police security clearance.

Full and accredited IDVA training will be provided where necessary to give the skills and knowledge required for the role (subject to successful completion of probationary period).

Key Functional Responsibilities

  • Build a relationship with each service user and engage at their pace and in their preferred way; taking a service user led, flexible approach to providing practical and emotional support and advocacy.
  • To assess all referrals using an approved domestic abuse and stalking toolkit address immediate support and safety needs in line with the accredited standards.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policy and procedures and carry out activities in a safe manner.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough case records.
  • Comply within Data Protection and GDPR legislation and best practice.
  • To offer a flexible service over 7 days a week to ensure referrals reach the NIDAS IDVA service as part of a NIDAS Rota system.
  • To offer telephone, virtual, group or face to face, webchat, advice and support to service users who have been assessed as high or medium risk.
  • To participate in MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Coordination) meetings and service user groups as required.
  • To liaise with other teams within the NIDAS partnership to ensure seamless handover of service between the triage service and other teams within NIDAS.
  • To track cases through the Police, CPS, court and other systems to ensure service users have accurate and up to date information in compliance with the GDPR, confidentiality and data protection.
  • To ensure that all Safeguarding issues and concerns are reported and dealt with in accordance with organisational policy and procedure, Legislation, and best practice.
  • To promote and work within the policies and guidelines of NIDAS and employing organisations.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • An accredited IDVA qualification or working towards one.
  • Driving Licence, Business insurance and ability to travel around Norfolk.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a voluntary or statutory agency for a minimum of two years with victims of domestic abuse.
  • Experience of using risk assessment tools for victims of domestic abuse.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within the multi-agency environment.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of legislation around safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, engaging with service users, colleagues, and partners.
  • Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft Office, Teams, case management systems, and databases.
  • Inquisitive and problem solving. A commitment to seeking new ways of working to achieve positive outcomes.
  • A clear understanding of Data Protection, confidentiality, and data sharing protocols.
  • An understanding of a strengths-based and trauma informed approach to support.
  • An understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on young people, children, and families.

Finance Officer

Job Title: Finance Officer

Contract Hours: 37 hours per week

Annual Salary: £24,962

Main Purpose of the Job:

To provide effective financial administrative support to enable the preparation and provision of accurate and up to date financial accounts and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain accurate rent records, including the allocation of housing benefit payments, and produce weekly rent reports
  • To record all financial transactions for Leeway on Sage.
  • To process purchase invoices, credit card transactions and staff expenses.
  • To assist in producing financial reports or projected costings as required.
  • To maintain Leeway's fixed asset register.
  • To assist in the preparation of all accounts for submission to Leeway’s Accountants/Auditors at Year end.
  • To record income/expenditure and update schedules of funding for specific projects.
