Take the Jump and Support Leeway

06 January 2017
Skydivers from the 2016 Leeway skydive

Have you set yourself a new year’s resolution? For some of you it might be that you want to cut down on your chocolate or alcohol intake. Maybe you are determined to make more of an effort to get to the gym this year. If you are looking for something a little more adventurous, you might want to try your hand at our next fundraising event.

After the success of our inaugural skydive challenge in March 2016, we are now looking for daredevils to sign up for this year’s event. The skydive is once again being hosted at Beccles Airfield and will be taking place on Sunday 19th March. Those taking part will fly to a height of 13,000 feet (approximately 2 miles), before jumping in tandem with an experienced parachutist, who will glide you safely back to Earth.

During the 6 minutes you spend under the chute, you will be able to take in breath-taking views of the local area and be given the opportunity to learn how to steer and land the parachute. What’s more, if you raise at least £300 in sponsorship, you enjoy this fantastic opportunity for FREE!

Skydiving Facts

• It is estimated that around 3.1 million skydives take place every year.

• Skydiving is actually safer than driving a car, with 0.001% of all jumps resulting in a fatality.

• The lowest skydive was conducted from just 143 feet.

• The world’s youngest tandem skydiver was just 4 years old and jumped from 10,000 feet.

Who Are UK Parachuting?

Like last year, we are hosting this skydive with the assistance of UK Parachuting. The company are British Parachute Association (BPA) affiliated, and have an experienced team of tandem parachutists – all of whom hold BPA tandem skydiving ratings.

Before setting off for your jump, you can expect to receive a 20-minute briefing from a member of the UK Parachuting team. During this briefing, an instructor will explain in detail exactly what you will be required to do once you are in the air, during the free fall and once you are under the parachute.

Please Note: The weight limit for this event is 16.7 stone (107kgs) for men and 15.7 stone (99kg) for women. We also cannot accept applications from people aged under 16 and over 40s will require a stamped BPA medical form. Full details about this will be sent to you by UK Parachuting upon registering for the event.

If you would like to sign up for this fantastic opportunity, please contact UK Parachuting. You can call them on 01502 476131 or click here to visit their website.
